We had the hotel shuttle drop us off a few streets over at Chick Fil A and called to have him pick us back up. There's a McDonalds next to the hotel that we ended up going to a lot and also to the CVS nearby. Either way was a pain with small children, etc. That was the hotel suggestion for getting back to the hotel each time if you don't want to walk from the Crystal City stop. We should have ridden the metro to the Reagan stop and taken the hotel shuttle. We called the hotel and they explained to walk towards the back of the hotel from behind the CVS on the sidewalk and that was a big help. It's difficult to see where you can walk on sidewalks without ending up out in the street. I would just say I blame the ownership/management for the inadequate staffing.Trying to walk to the hotel from the Crystal City Metro stop was a bit of a challenge the first time carrying our luggage since we flew into Dulles instead of Reagan. Since I left early the next morning, you'll have to read the other reviews to get more details about this property. The hotel room itself was what you'd expect at a Holiday Inn: clean and comfortable. When I asked the front desk agent why no one was answering the phone, he blamed the fact that they were understaffed - he was there alone and he was doing the best he could. I would have understood if I was told that the shuttle was not available that late, but my phone calls were never answered. I reached the hotel's answering system, but none of the options I selected ever resulted in my call being answered. I called two different numbers a total of four times during my layover in Houston, then two more times when I landed at Reagan. I selected this hotel because of its proximity to the airport and the fact that under Hotel Amenities they claim that they offer "Free airport transportation." Since I was arriving around midnight, I started calling around 8:30 pm to verify that the shuttle would be available at that time. It's difficult to say that a hotel has good customer service if they don't answer phone calls.
